Transition Blues

Transition Blues[1]

Chill fades towards tepid,
heartaches dull, becoming mere annoyances,
memories start to dwindle
morphing this way and that into rationalizations.

Fear of further risks for delusional rewards diminishes,
heads shake cobwebs loose
as short gasps give way to sighs
and finally to deep breaths.

Contemplation plays with introspection
while frozen feelings start to thaw.
Is starting over worth the effort?
The answer, – a resounding perhaps.
