A Strange Colloquially On the Nature of Love

“You gave me everything” she admitted, “and I gave you nothing in return”.

“That is”, he replied somewhat uncomfortably, “your definition of love”.

She gazed into his eyes directly and coyly whispered, “yes, I know; I wasn’t complaining about that, just making an observation. But you stopped. Does that mean you no longer love me”?

“I can’t really say”.

“Does that mean you don’t know or that you don’t want to say”?

“Interesting observation but perhaps neither or perhaps both”.

“So”, she asked, “what is your definition of love?”

“Definitely not that” he admitted.
