But What if this Time
The difference between a lesser evil, the least evil and the decent choice plays with infinities in valuation and values and evaluation, in ethics and morals and common sense, in decency and in indecency, in each case with the past the present and the future. Or, if they’re just differences in flavors and tastes, they may be meaningless. All too frequently they are.
But, we’re always told, or we always say, or we always think or we sometimes feel, .. “this time is different”.
In the distance little boys and little girls scream “Wolf”, and very convincingly; they’ve been doing so for a long, long time; but, also in the distance, a lonely she wolf howls and a male answers, then several, than a pack and then a chorus. Shall we find our makeshift weapons and run out to save the children, … again?
That game’s become somewhat boring we think, then as always, we think again, “but what if this time …?”
