It’s Easier that Way
When disgusted we decide we are sick of politics, … evil has won.
That is the mainstream media’s mission, not to inform but to depress. Today, real journalism fights a losing battle as one by one we drop by the wayside. Real journalism replaced by long legged blondes in short skirts and handsome analogues smiling at us from our television screens, reading lines they barely understand, which is probably for the best, wouldn’t want to damage their sense of self now would we?
Generated marching crowds try to look spontaneous for the cameras while crows and ravens look on, smirking (although it’s hard for non-avians to recognize their facial expressions).
In the crowds a very few skeptics frown and ask, “Just what the Hell is going on?” In the air from seemingly everywhere, a whispered echo answers:
“Accept things as they are; they can’t be changed; send us more donations, even if it’s only a dollar a day; accept the lesser evil, it’s so much easier that way.”
The hypnotic chant which comes from billions of televisions is repeated visually in the press and social media.
Your eyes are getting heavy, … you’re getting more and more tired; facts just don’t matter; send us more donations, even if it’s only a dollar a day, we’ll put it to good use; you can count on us; … accept the lesser evil, it’s so much easier that way.
Hate your neighbors as they hate you. Obey the leaden rule: divide, divide, divide; that’s the key to success and success is the key to happiness; but rest now, … accept things as they are, they can’t be changed anyway.
Politics is disgusting so it’s best to just drop out, don’t participate, don’t vote, don’t demand change; it’s so much easier that way. Your eyes are getting heavy, … you’re getting more and more tired; facts just don’t matter; send us more donations, even if it’s only a dollar a day, we’ll put it to good use; you can count on us; accept things as they are, they can’t be changed anyway.
Accept the lesser evil, it’s so much easier that way. Accept evil, accept, accept, accept, ….
From Wall Street and Madison Avenue and K Street the chant echoes endlessly and it’s captured in print at the New York Times and the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune and the Boston Globe and the Los Angeles Times and is brought to you commercial free (if you discount the subliminal and narrowly define commercials) on MSNBC and CNN and ABC and CBS and Fox.
Approving faces smile from Berlin and Tel Aviv and Washington D.C.
“Accept the lesser evil, it’s so much easier that way. Accept evil, accept, accept, accept, ….”
