The Human Infection

The Human Infection

It seems that on a macro scale evil overwhelms everything we humans touch, perverting even the most noble aspirations. History is a tale of blatant lies and perhaps it always has been, our ability to deceive ourselves so vast that it overwhelms the pallid beauty of naked truth.

On a micro level things are often different, our issues fortunately too small to really matter. Beauty in its myriad aspects sometimes manages to thrive in the touch of old lovers and very small children, in innocence and humility, in kindness and forgiving.

But more and more, at least apparently from this perspective, evil grows and as it grows so does its hunger and its power to pervert: hypocrisy and impunity and greed gleefully expand unconstrained. Mythic gods or goddesses slumbering unaware, or else, … well, … perhaps amused.

I wonder how the universe views us?
